What is Left of Reality is an immersive installation exploring a new psychological, existential form of suffering caused by environmental changes, known as “eco-anxiety” or "solastalgia."
Solastalgia (/ˌsɒləˈstældʒə/) is a neologism that describes a form of emotional or existential distress caused by environmental change. It is best described as the lived experience of negatively perceived environmental change. A distinction can be made between solastalgia linked to mourning what is already lost and eco-anxiety linked to what may happen.
W.I.L.O.R makes use of Kinect sensors and video projections inside an immersive space. Together, this lets viewers interact with a world created in point cloud, where they can discover the accounts of women and men dealing with the effects of an unraveling world. What is left of reality tells the stories of these people devoured by anxiety, the anxiety of the end of their reality.
