The game jam is always one of the most exciting aspects of the Clujotronic experience: Teams of veteran as well as upcoming game designers, artists, and developers gather to create games within a crushing time limit. This year, the game jam was for the first time organized completely online and the participating teams had a mere 48 hours to come up with a complete game based on the topic “on the safe side”. Forty motivated individuals followed our call and created a total of twelve games, ranging from casual puzzle games to experimental ones, many of which playfully address the pandemic and the hardships of the current times.
Like every year, we will award three prizes for the most creative, thought-through, and fun entries: the Public’s Choice Award based on a Facebook poll, the Jammer’s Award which comes from within the community of the participants, and the Jury Award. Our jury is composed of an international cast of experienced game experts:
> Thorsten S. Wiedemann [DE] - founder and director of A MAZE. festival
> Oscar Barda [FR] - game designer and theorist; co-founder of Them Games
> Mircea Ispas [RO] - software engineer at Telenav; lead programmer for “Rayman Origins”
> Alex Simion [RO] - programmer at Ubisoft; creator of “Raiders of the Lost Island”
> Horea Trinca [RO] - co-founder and lead technical artist at Tractor, Set, Go!
Join us online for the award ceremony which will be moderated live by Andrei Istrate, founding member of the Romanian Game Developers Association (RGDA) and one of the leading spokespersons for Romania’s game scene.
